Yesterday was wet and I don’t like outside wet. That’s not to say that I don’t like water, but to my way of seeing things there are 3 types of water:
Drinking
I do like to drink. I drink lots and often. This is the best kind of water; it refreshes and guarantees that I have all I need to mark my territory, ensuring all who sniff know that Chapi-dog has been in the neighbourhood.
Bathing
This is somewhat of a new experience for me. Just this week I had my first bath in UK waters. I also had a bath just before I departed from North Macedonia and based on what they uncovered I was not a frequent bather back in the land of warmth.
My first UK bath was not undertaken without trepidation on the part of my staff member. Seemingly their previous employer was not particularly keen on the bathing experience and with my thick and luxurious coat they feared that had I been equally unwilling then they had a difficult future ahead. It was with relief on all sides that I actually enjoyed the experience, being able to sit in tepid (not too hot, neither too cold) water while being pampered was a fairly enjoyable experience. Don’t go hoping for a photo, this is not that sort of website.
I was treated to some oatmeal shampoo, whatever that is. Apparently it is something that I’m not supposed to eat, which I found disappointing, however it has helped make my coat even softer and left a very gentle odor of not-dog, which I’m not sure about. Staff member advised me that she hoped it would make me less itchy, apparently she is unaware that I’m a dog and therefore will scratch when I feel like it.
Weather
I really, really do not like outdoor water. It is cold, messes up my coat, ruins sniffs and generally makes me miserable. I’d prefer we grabbed a good book and sat inside until it stopped, alas my staff members are either stupid, cruel, or entirely oblivious to this fact as they (mostly he) take me out for walks in the rain. When I say walks it is really him standing there getting soaked, while I, on my end of the lead, try to either go home, or impersonate a boat anchor. We spend 3 times as long outside as we normally would to cover the same distance and it would be much longer, but he insists on picking me up and carrying me for spells.
Incredibly senior staff member initially tried dressing me up in a coat to go out in the rain. A dog in a coat? Have you ever heard of such a thing? I soon showed junior staff member that I wasn’t going to walk at all wearing a coat. After a few non-walks he joined my anti-coat movement and senior staff member finally relented. Now I just have to convince them that any form of dog walking in the rain is to be discouraged and all will be well.
Mercifully there is a lack of outdoor water today, so I’m a happy-Chapi. I’ll sign off with a picture of me munching on a sea creature chew, which I’m fairly sure has never been in any outdoor water
