My Toys

I realise that I have been referring to my gang of toys without introducing them, so today is when I put that right. I hope that you appreciate them from afar as they do mean a lot to me, some more than others, but that’s how it is with all friends and staff members. Here they are:

Duck

I love my duck. I should say ducks as I have 3 of them, but as they are all called duck I’m sticking with duck. The greatest thing about a duck is that it makes a quack noise when I chew, which is much nicer than the high pitched squeak noise that most toys make. The drawback is that I can’t contain my excitement, so chew, and chew, and chew until his quacker no longer quacks. This makes me sad, so I grab a different duck and cheer myself up by making that one quack, returning me to Happy Chapi.

Senior staff member can do tooter-ectomy operations to remove damaged tooters (what the high pitched squeakers are known as locally) and replace them. Alas staff have so far been unable to source replacement quackers, so if you know of anywhere that quackers can be purchased then please do comment below.

Russ

Russ is my travelling companion. Anytime I think that we are going in the car I run through and grab Russ to ensure that he doesn’t miss out. He is unusual in that he makes a rustling noise, which I’m sure my chauffeur finds peaceful and relaxing. As well as being small enough to share my car bed, he doubles up as a very good pillow which allows us to nap together on longer jaunts.

Doughnut

I received Doughnut from neighbour Linda for my birthday this year and despite having a high pitched squeaker I am fond of this toy. Staff sometimes roll it around, which adds an extra dimension to my pursuit and pouncing moves. It is a shame that Doughnut does not taste like the little pieces of doughnut I sometimes find/hunt down in grasslands when I’m out for walks, for I am quite partial to any sugary treat that is not fast enough to run away.

Teddy

I’m not particularly keen on Teddy. He’s a bit hard, doesn’t quack and I think staff only keep him around as he is a good looking chew toy. Now and again I pick him up and take him for a tour of the house, but you don’t have to be hit by a thrown bear too often to understand why bears don’t fly.

Sheep

Sheep is a bit on the large side, so I don’t play with her very often. If you imagine picking up something twice your own width and the challenges that would pose for getting through doorways then you’ll understand why Sheep and I don’t play too often.

Rabbit

He’s only here because he is so big that he gets in the way and I have to move him to get to more interesting toys.

Blanket

Now before you start, I do realise that a blanket isn’t a toy in the traditional sense, but blankets and I have a deep connection and only duck gets close to blankets in my fondness rating. I can often be found dragging a blanket around the house and have even been known to stack them up on a bed, so that I can have all three of them with me as I nap. They are soft, chewy and perfect for cuddling up to as I settle for a nap.

I dare say that some of you are looking at the list of names and thinking that originality isn’t a strong suit of mine. I’d just like to highlight that Senior Staff Member has been responsible for naming most of my toys and she calls a spade a spade, so raise any complaints with her.

That concludes the introduction to my toys, now I’m off to play with Duck, until next time [quack, quack…]
